Although it is a lossy compression format, it’s features make it an excellent choice for online edits in the indie world. ProRes 4444 is the highest quality codex available through the ProRes format. Ffmbc is the application that is doing all the encoding. There are a plethora of free GUIs for ffmpeg for those unfamiliar with the command line. ffmpeg is a command line tool, which means that it can be automated. Remember, AnotherGUI is only a front end GUI. If you don't use Adobe CC aps or want a free, open source tool, ffmpeg can encode video using ProRes, and runs cross-platform.
